Governor Raɗɗa Hosts World Bank Team, Affirms Commitment to Women's Empowerment

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda PhD CON, hosted a high-level roundtable discussion with a delegation from the World Bank. The Governor explored the session to reiterate the state government's dedication to women's empowerment and sustainable economic growth.
The meeting, which was attended by key stakeholders, including Katsina State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajia Hadiza Yar'adua, and World Bank representatives, Mr. Tamir Samad (Operations Manager) and Mr. Micheal Ilesanmi (Task Team Leader), centred around the impending commencement of the Nigeria for Women Project in the state.
"We are excited to partner with the Katsina State Government on this impactful initiative that will empower women and drive sustainable economic growth" said Tamir Samad, Operations Manager for the World Bank's Nigeria portfolio.
During the briefing, Tamir expressed confidence that through this collaborative effort, the World Bank will be able to create meaningful opportunities for the women of Katsina State.
Also speaking, Hajia Hadiza Yar'adua highlighted the extensive discussions and a thorough understanding of the project, which will be implemented under the Ministry of Women Affairs, Katsina State. "We will begin by going on a learning visit to Ogun State, and upon return, implementation will commence in 3 LGAs by creating Women Affinity Groups (WAG) across the LGAs," she explained.
Governor Radda expressed his unwavering gratitude to the World Bank for including Katsina State in this crucial initiative, stating, "I firmly believe that empowering women is a must for sustainable economic growth, which is in line with my administration's mandate for 'Building Your Future' and the core essence of the Ministry of Women Affairs."
The Nigeria for Women Project, which will be implemented in the state, aims to provide women with access to finance, markets, and relevant skills, ultimately contributing to the state's overall economic prosperity.
